And we are back for another, slightly different chapter in the life of Moge and we come to Croatia.

I knew I wanted another holiday when I was on the last one in Barcelona in March. It was a week where I was unemployed between leaving policing and starting a new chapter in the world of IT, where, in hindsight, maybe was a terrible choice considering my IT skills consist of fixing my grandparents internet. And so again I find my self on holiday officially unemployed after what I was told in person was a decision taken in my best interests as they should never have offered me the role due to aforementioned IT skills, and in writing was a failure to successfully complete a probationary period which in fairness isn’t wrong, as the probationary period was 6 months and they gave me less than 3 to give it a good go.

The first thing I did was come on another unemployed holiday, and have now booked another one to Kenya in July. Justifying it by telling myself it’s a good use of time off - exploring. And I don’t think I’m wrong.

Exploring - starting with Croatia.

After planning a trip in 2020, in the good old days, Covid soon put a stop to that so I’ve dusted off the PowerPoint presentation and find ourselves starting in Zagreb.

Before I can even start telling you about this beautiful country I must set the scene in Manchester terminal 3, long forgotten, not cared about terminal 3 where the lounges close at 5pm and you have to endure the rabble in a bar where it prides itself on only serving Carlsberg. Low ceilings and thin corridors it feels more of a medical facility than an airport. The excitement of departure is delayed by 2 hours due to a number of different reasons provided by Ryanair. Upon boarding, finally, we are told we need to hurry up or it will be our fault we miss the runway slot, rude.

Skip through a very average flight with some sore neck sleep we arrived in Zagreb at 2am and were met by a very friendly taxi driver holding a sign with my name on, how posh.

The roads are quiet and clean. The apartment is quiet and clean and quirky. The taxi driver expressed how perfect the location was, I’ll take that I pride my self in my booking.com search abilities.

First things first, the air con unit goes on and we crawl into a very comfortable bed to start exploring tomorrow.
